A Blog? A Blog! And Much News

With ever more things to announce/keep up with at Huldra House, it just makes sense to be running a blog. It will, mercifully for all concerned, not keep to a strict schedule. And I am going to try and keep this one brief, despite having multiple things to cover.
Now come, wander the paths into the fýri with us, and explore the first batch of things new or in progress in our corner of the forest.
The First of Branching Paths: Hulderotica #16 is out!
Hulderotica #16: Fissures in her Faith went live Tuesday. Which means we’re only eight stories away from the end of year one. Feels like the year is just flying by at this point. If you’d like to catch up with the latest installment of the Hulderotica series, you can buy a copy from the link above. You can also read a sample (via layout screenshots, or direct on the webpage) to see if the story’s what you’re looking for.
And what might it be you’re looking for? Well, Fissures in her Faith has: lesbian/poly forbidden romance, warring covens, a spirit demanding unwavering love/fealty, and a predator that taught itself to be a house. So if that’s your bag, help yourself to a copy.
The Second Path: A Standalone Story Out Next Week!
It’s only taken eight months (there was a lot of other stuff to attend to first), but Huldra House’s first standalone story will be out on the 19th. You can find out more about In Quiet Voices Speak, Mother of Beasts here.
But if you’re looking for some very short (2.5k) WLW/FF experimental/Weird Fiction prose poetry/hybrid fiction, then do I have the story for you! And I’ll quickly note that the price being currently TBA is because I haven’t yet decided whether it’ll be free, or the standard price for short fiction out of Huldra House ($1 USD/$1.50 CAD). So hey, you may yet be able to get that free!
The Third Path: Upcoming Fundraising in October
Though we cover most of Huldra House’s operating costs through direct sales, putting together print version costs of two titles for 2026 (the print edition of the collected Hulderotica Year One in spring, and a for now secret project in fall) requires additional funding. We’re still working on the numbers. And we’ll be talking more about that coming fundraising as we get closer to launching.
In the meantime, keep an eye out for a short story out in September that ties into that secret project…
The Fourth Path: We Need Subscribers!
Itchio shadowbanning/delisting/removing entirely adult/NSFW (disproportionately queer, ahem) content across media types from its system has already meant reduced sales for Huldra House. As approximately 50% of Huldra House’s sales were coming from Itchio (many of those through bundles), this presents a, let us for now say dire, problem.
In order to make up the rest of the year’s lost Itchio revenue (based on existing sales, and planned bundle inclusions), we’d need to sell 15 Hulderotica subscriptions. As of right now, we need 14 more to do it. This is above and beyond any subscriptions/sales we make during October’s fundraising campaign, which is going to specific rather than ongoing and operational costs.
If you’d like to help out and pick up a Hulderotica subscription (24 stories over the course of the year), you can do so here.
Thanks for sticking with us through what is a longer blog post than most of these will hopefully be. And, as always, we hope you’ve enjoyed your time in the forest.
