Our First Standalone Story is Live!

While the majority of Huldra House’s releases in 2025 are focused on the Hulderotica series, there are two other non-Hulderotica releases planned for the year. One, in September, is a story tied to an upcoming series. The other, our first standalone story, just came out yesterday!

In Quiet Voices Speak, Mother of Beasts is a 2.5k lesbian horrorotica (SFW) experimental/Weird Fiction story you can grab from out store for free!

In Quiet Voices Speak, Mother of Beasts has been a long time coming out. I started writing it back at Clarion West (11 years ago for those counting). It was to be my week six story, which we were allowed to blow off if we chose. I got two paragraphs in, realized I was hopelessly burned out, and stopped.

Been piecing together different versions of it over the years. And it’s been accepted by markets twice, both times by publications that stopped publishing/stalled out (the resurrected Grendelsong, and later Nox Pareidolia II). And it’s often come close to selling, but never quite fit another venue.

So. I present to you this version of In Quiet Voices Speak, Mother of Beasts. Finally out in the world available to read for, once again, free. And though horrorotica, as noted above, this one is SFW.

Copies of the story are also available through our Itchio page, and are making their way onto other sales channels through Draft2Digital’s system, and will be available to pick up at multiple other venues shortly.
